During an interview with AIT from 41:06, Ezeocha Nzeh, a political analyst, criticised the judiciary in Kano for a controversial judgement delivered by a judge promoted to the Appeal Court. Before leaving office, the judge ruled on a high-profile case, reinstating Ado Bayero as emir and deposing Sanusi Lamido.

Nzeh alleged that this move has created the perception that Nigerian courts are like markets where judgements are bought and sold. He expressed the need for the judiciary to be independent and to stand up to maintain law and order in the country.

According to him, “The judiciary is again working in Kano. A judge or a justice that has been appointed and promoted to the appeal court stood behind to give a judgement before taking off. The judiciary is making people feel that Nigerian courts are now like markets. Nigerian courts are more or less like markets, and judgements are the commodities of sale there.”…..Sée Móre
