One one of the chieftains of the All Progressive Congress, APC and former Kaduna lawmaker who represented Kaduna Central at the National Assembly, Senator Shehu Sani has reacted after President Bola Ahmed Tinubu placed a 7-year ban on the establishment of new federal universities.
Senator Shehu Sani’s comment was contained in a post that he shared on his official X handle on Thursday, August 14, 2025.
According to PUNCH, the Minister of Education, Tunji Alausa said the decision was made to save the resources of government”
He said;
“Several federal universities operate far below capacity, with some having fewer than 2,000 students. In one northern university, there are 1,200 staff serving fewer than 800 students. This is a waste of government resources”.
However, Senator Shehu Sani has now shared his thoughts after the report surfaced online.
In a post that he shared on his official X handle, he supported the decision that was made by the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Here is what Senator Shehu Sani wrote on his official X handle;
“Establishing new federal universities has become a component of constituency project at the parliament and a means of political compensation by the executive. Placing a ban is the right thing to do”.
