In a recent interview from 43:21 shared by Arise News, Policy Strategist and Group CEO of a global investment and trade company, Baba Yusuf, weighed in on the ongoing debate surrounding opposition realignment in Nigeria.

Speaking on the emerging alliance between Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso, Baba Yusuf expressed doubts about its current structure and long-term viability. He emphasized that while both political figures command significant grassroots support, their collaboration alone may not be sufficient to secure electoral success.

“They need to go back to the drawing board; the Obi-Kwankaso combination will not work without Atiku’s stabilization,” he stated.

Yusuf further noted that Nigerian politics is largely driven by numbers and strategic alliances. He referenced voting patterns from previous elections, suggesting that broader coalitions tend to produce stronger outcomes at the polls. According to him, the absence of key political actors like Atiku Abubakar in such arrangements could weaken the opposition’s chances.
