Nana Kazaure, a Nigerian activist and politician, has said that a lawsuit should be filed against the Governor of Edo State, Monday Okpebholo, over his recent comments about Peter Obi.
During an interview with Arise Television, Kazaure reacted to a statement made by Governor Okpebholo warning that Peter Obi should not visit Edo State without informing him. The governor had suggested that Obi’s safety would not be guaranteed if he came into the state without his permission.
Kazaure strongly condemned this, saying it was dangerous for any governor to speak that way. She said it sends a bad message to citizens who are already worried about safety in Nigeria.
“I personally believe we should launch a lawsuit against Governor Monday Okpebholo,” she said. She added that what he has done shows a failure in leadership and is a serious threat to democracy.
She explained that Peter Obi only went to Edo to carry out charity work in areas like the healthcare and education sectors, and many Nigerians are passionate about improving.
“Obi is not stealing government money; he’s using his own personal resources to help people,” she added. “Instead of threatening him, the governor should have applauded him.”
Kazaure believes that stopping people from doing good things, just because they are in the opposition party, is wrong and unfair.
