The Guardian reports that Alhaji Umar Farouk Umar, Emir of Daura, has officially named President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the preferred presidential candidate of the Daura Emirate for the 2027 elections.
This announcement was made on Saturday during a condolence visit by Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, to the family of the late President Muhammadu Buhari in Daura, Katsina State.
The First Lady was accompanied by the wives of key political leaders, including those of National Assembly members, governors, ministers, and military officers, along with other influential women.
The group visited Hajia Aisha Buhari, the former president’s widow, offering prayers for the departed leader. They also visited Buhari’s burial site and extended condolences to Alhaji Mamman Daura, his uncle.
At the Emir’s palace, Senator Tinubu delivered a message of sympathy from the Presidency. She praised the former president’s life and contributions, calling him a patriotic leader who brought pride to his family, hometown, and nation, and commended his principles of discipline and service.
In a significant political statement, the Emir voiced unwavering support for President Tinubu’s leadership, pledging loyalty from the Daura Emirate.
