According to reports, Primate Elijah Ayodele, the leader of the INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, has made a strong statement regarding political leadership in Lagos State, urging the All Progressives Congress (APC) to consider Deputy Governor Obafemi Hamzat as a key figure for the future.
Speaking from 20:10 during a church programme, Ayodele said Hamzat stands out as the most suitable option if the party intends to make what he described as a “reasonable” political decision in the state. He emphasized that leadership choices should reflect current realities rather than past achievements.
“APC, if you want to do something reasonable in Lagos State, Hamzat is the best person; he is better than Ambode—Ambode’s time has gone,” Ayodele said.
The cleric stated that political relevance is constantly evolving, and parties must align their decisions with present-day dynamics. According to him, relying on past leaders may not yield the desired results in future elections.
Ayodele explained that Hamzat’s experience within the Lagos State government places him in a strong position to take on greater responsibility. He noted that continuity, familiarity with governance, and understanding of the state’s structure are important factors in leadership selection.
He further emphasized that political parties must be strategic when choosing candidates, especially in states like Lagos, which play a central role in national politics. According to him, decisions should be based on current capacity and influence rather than historical contributions.
Ayodele also suggested that former Governor Akinwunmi Ambode’s political relevance has diminished, indicating that the party should move forward rather than revisit past leadership options. By stating that “Ambode’s time has gone,” he stressed the need for a shift in direction. Read_More…
