According to Reuters, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi has disclosed that the Fordow nuclear facility suffered extensive destruction as a result of recent U.S. airstrikes. Speaking in an interview with CBS News, Araqchi stated that the full extent of the impact remains unclear, though preliminary information suggests severe impairment to the underground enrichment site.

He said, “What we know so far is that the facilities have been seriously and heavily damaged.” Araqchi added that Iran’s Atomic Energy Organization is conducting a detailed technical assessment, which will be presented to national authorities upon completion.

Contrasting narratives have emerged in the aftermath of the attack. While Iranian officials appear cautious in confirming details, U.S. President Donald Trump asserted that the operation “completely and totally obliterated” Iran’s nuclear capabilities. Yet, according to the Washington Post, intercepted Iranian communications indicated a more subdued internal account, with officials downplaying the real scope of the destruction.

American intelligence agencies are continuing to analyze satellite imagery and intercepted data to determine the actual effect of the strikes on Iran’s nuclear infrastructure. The Fordow site, long a focal point of international concern due to its fortified design and uranium enrichment operations, has now become central in a growing crisis between Washington and Tehran.
