Veteran actor and politician Kenneth Okonkwo has offered a candid explanation for joining the new opposition coalition centered around the African Democratic Congress (ADC). Speaking in an interview shared on Symfoni TV, he said, “The only reason I’m in this coalition is to remove the evil that I’ve brought to this nation.”
Okonkwo described the coalition as a turning point in Nigeria’s political history, insisting it is built not on the pursuit of power but on the commitment to the welfare of Nigerians. He highlighted Article 3 of the ADC’s constitution, which pledges to create a society founded on peace, prosperity, and justice.
Reflecting on the failures of the All Progressives Congress (APC), which he once supported, Okonkwo admitted that past mistakes had taught many politicians valuable lessons. He stressed that the new coalition was determined to enforce discipline, respect the rule of law, and restore hope to Nigerians.
Okonkwo also dismissed concerns that the ruling party might infiltrate the ADC, arguing that any attempt would fail due to the coalition’s vigilance and shared purpose. Looking ahead to 2027, he maintained that the movement was about uniting Nigerians against what he called “the darkness” of incompetence and corruption.
He concluded by urging citizens to support the coalition’s mission, framing it as an opportunity to correct the nation’s course and bring meaningful change.
