Former Nigerian President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan recently opened up about the 2015 presidential election. He spoke about the challenges he faced when he conceded defeat to Muhammad Buhari.

In an interview on YOUTUBE, Jonathan explained that his decision to concede was rooted in his deep love for Nigeria. He emphasized that he put the nation’s interests first, even if it meant stepping aside for another leader.

He also noted that many of his ministers and senior officials were worried about their fates during the election period. According to him, they feared that losing could lead to imprisonment or unfair treatment by the incoming government, creating a tense atmosphere within his team.

Jonathan further pointed out that the anxiety they experienced in 2015 may not be echoed by Buhari’s team.

His words,

“By this time, I had already conceded defeat to Buhari, and I knew why I did so, I was more interested in the country than in myself.”
