As Nigeria’s political space gradually tilts toward the next general elections, the leader of the Kwankwasiyya movement and former Kano State Governor, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, appears to be at the center of strategic overtures from several political camps.

Speaking on Channels TV, Yusuf Ibrahim Sharada, National Coordinator of Project Save Nigeria and a staunch ally of Kwankwaso, confirmed the level of interest surrounding his principal. “There are people from PDP who are wooing him to come back to his former party,” – Sharada revealed, noting that these efforts are part of a broader contest to secure Kwankwaso’s support, given his vast grassroots following, especially in the North.

Sharada explained that while the APC has reportedly made moves—possibly including the recent resignation of its national chairman, Umar Ganduje—to attract Kwankwaso, the PDP is also actively trying to bring him back into its fold, despite past disagreements during internal congresses. “Even people from APC led by Tinubu are reaching out to him; there’s also talk of a new coalition. All sides see his value,” he added.

He emphasized that Kwankwaso is carefully evaluating these invitations, weighing which option would best serve his supporters and the wider Nigerian populace. “Our followers trust him to choose a path that will not bring them suffering,” Sharada stated, highlighting the loyalty Kwankwasiyya members feel toward their leader’s judgment rather than any particular party label.

With rising political speculation about new alliances and possible candidacies, observers say Kwankwaso’s decision in the coming months could play a decisive role in shaping the political balance heading into 2027.
