Legal expert and political analyst, Liborous Oshoma has taken a swipe at the ruling All Progressives Congress accusing it of failing to live up to the expectations it set while in opposition.

Speaking during an interview on Arise TV, Oshoma reflected on the party’s rise to power in 2015, pointing out that many Nigerians believed the APC would offer a clear departure from the leadership style of the People’s Democratic Party.

He specifically referenced the role of Alhaji Lai Mohammed, the then APC’s spokesperson who shaped public perception against the PDP through a barrage of media statements and criticisms.

“Alhaji Lai Mohammed issued press releases, 30 sometimes in a day. At the end of the day, people were like, ‘if only these persons will get into government,’” Oshoma said.

However, he lamented that the APC, after nearly a decade in power has failed to deliver on the promises it made while in opposition. Instead, Oshoma argued, the same wrongs the APC accused the PDP of committing are now being repeated, sometimes in worse forms.

“Today they are in government and everything they once criticized, they are doing even worse,” he added.

Oshoma’s comments come as growing public dissatisfaction continues to mount over governance, economic hardship, and allegations of corruption under the current administration. Many Nigerians who supported the APC’s change mantra in 2015 now question whether the party has upheld the ideals it once championed.

With the 2027 general elections approaching, Oshoma’s critique adds to the broader national conversation about accountability, performance and the gap between political promises and actual governance.
