Segun Sowunmi, a prominent chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has cautioned critics and party loyalists alike not to underestimate his influence or commitment, especially in the face of growing speculation about political realignments.

While speaking during an interview on Channels Television  from 26:21, Sowunmi reflected on his time as a key political adviser to former President Olusegun Obasanjo, particularly during the strained relationship between Obasanjo and Atiku Abubakar.

He explained that had he still been in Obasanjo’s advisory circle when Obasanjo authored his controversial account about Atiku, the situation would have escalated beyond control due to the deep political ramifications such public claims carry.

According to him, “If Obasanjo had written that book he wrote about Atiku, I was his advisor; we would not have finished the problem till today. I’ll drag him to every court because I know that those words are immortal. Today, didn’t I tell him? Today, even if he wants to say it’s not true, who’s believing him? I know the amount of donkey work I did just to push back a bit, and the mumus that are saying that Segun is this – they should go and do it; let’s see now. They should rather pray that I don’t go to Bola Tinubu because I’m not bringing only talk; I’m bringing deeper than that, and he (Atiku) knows and Bola Tinubu knows.”
