A former governorship hopeful in Edo State and a bigwig in the All Progressive Congress (APC), Kassim Afegbua, has, during an interview on Mic On Podcast, revealed why he did not settle for Peter Obi in 2023 when he dumped Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP); as he described the former Anambra Governor as being too pro-religion and pro-ethnic.

According to a video on Mic On Podcast’s from 23:08, Kassim Afegbua had said, “Why do you think the South-East are agitating for power? Because they feel that they need some level of sense of inclusion, but the man who represented the Labour Party, who also is from the South-East extraction didn’t know how to go about his own aspiration, he was too pro-religion and pro-ethnic stock, to the point that every other person felt, you know, threatened that if this man is is too ‘Igbothic’, let me put it that way, and so, if he comes on board, this is what we are going to see. And so they rather prefer a man like Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who, you know, cut across various interests.”….Sée Móre
