Former Osun State Governor, Rauf Aregbesola, has officially joined coalition led by ex-Vice President Atiku Abubakar, as reported by PUNCH.

The group is planning to unseat President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 election.

This was confirmed by ‘Lowo Adebiyi, a close ally of Aregbesola.

Adebiyi once led the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) in Osun State, he said Aregbesola is now fully involved in Atiku’s coalition.

Atiku visited Aregbesola in Ilesa, Osun State, last Friday, a video from the visit showed Atiku, ex-Vice President Namadi Sambo, and others being warmly received.

Local drummers and singers praised Atiku and chanted slogans against Tinubu.

Aregbesola was once a strong supporter of Tinubu, however, their relationship broke down in recent years.

In January, Aregbesola and his group, the Omoluabi Progressives, left the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun until now, they had not revealed their next move.

Adebiyi did not share many details about the meeting but he said clearly that Aregbesola has joined the coalition led by Atiku.

When asked for more information, he said people should wait and more details would come out soon.

“All I will say for now is that Aregbesola is already part of a coalition Atiku is leading.”

“The ex-Vice President and his entourage paid Aregbesola a visit and we entertained them with breakfast. No more, no less. Be patient, other things you want to know will be revealed in no distant future,” he said.
