Ibrahim AbdulKareem, Director General of the Big Tent coalition, has made a bold declaration that Nigerians from across the country are preparing to “march with donkeys, camels, cows, and buses” to occupy Abuja in protest against what he calls a failed democracy and worsening governance under the current administration.

In an interview with Arise News Prime Time from 11:20, AbdulKareem passionately defended the logistics and purpose of the upcoming “Freedom Converge,” a massive people-powered protest being spearheaded by Professor Pat Utomi and other civic actors. “This is not just Pat Utomi’s idea. It’s what Nigerians want,” AbdulKareem said, adding that many Nigerians, especially those affected by banditry and economic hardship, are ready to take the capital by storm.

“That’s what a young man said in Zamfara. He said because we don’t even have places to sleep. Our villages have already been ransacked by bandits, we are going to pack everything we have. We’ll come with donkeys, camels, and cows and will sit in Abuja until the President gives us what we want in our state,” he stated. The movement, according to him, is a response to widespread disenchantment with the judiciary, the National Assembly, and what he describes as a government deaf to the people’s cries.

The Big Tent coalition claims it is targeting a turnout of 7.2 million Nigerians—farmers, teachers, traders—willing to converge on the capital before the year ends. AbdulKareem insists it’s not just about numbers but about forcing a political reckoning. “We will occupy Abuja until freedom is returned to the Nigerian people,” he stressed.

While questions remain about the feasibility of such a mass mobilization and whether the police would permit such an event, AbdulKareem maintained optimism. “The police are Nigerians too. Their children go to our schools, they shop in our markets. They are suffering like the rest of us.”
