General Anthony Atolagbe, a former Nigerian military commander, has explained how the federal government used satellite technology to track Charles Okah before he tried to bomb Eagle Square on Independence Day.

Speaking in a video shared by Channels TV, Atolagbe said the federal government had satellite footage showing everything Charles Okah did for five days before the incident. He mentioned that the video showed how the vehicle used for the planned bombing was loaded with explosives. He said after that, Okah drove the vehicle to Gwagwalada where he slept overnight.

General Atolagbe’s said Okah could not drive straight to Eagle Square early in the morning because many other vehicles had already arrived and were parked near the venue. He said Nigeria already has surveillance tools like satellites, and they can play an important role in tracking and stopping security threats.

In General Atolagbe’s words: “How did they get Okah, the one that came to attack Eagle Square. The whole thing that was done to get him was provided for the public to know that they got satellite video of all the things and that it took them 5 days to laden the vehicle before they moved the vehicle to Gwagwalada. So up to the point that he got to Gwagwalada, the guy slept overnight before he now drove to Eagle Square. He didn’t come early because a lot of vehicles had already parked close to Eagle Square. So these facilities are there”.
