The Federal Government has released new data to push back against claims of inaction regarding the nation’s security crisis, revealing that dozens of top-tier terrorist leaders have been taken off the battlefield since the start of the year.
Speaking in an interview from 6:12 with Channels TV, on Wednesday April 8, 2026, Sunday Dare, the Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Media and Public Communication, shared these figures during a recent briefing, framing the administration’s efforts as a sustained mop-up operation that is yielding significant results in both the military and judicial sectors.
“I can give you another figure. You know for every figure or data there’s another data and there’s a countered data and I can give you data,” Dare said. “This year alone in the last 3 months or so, 67 top terrorists neutralized; between last year and this year, over 700.”
Beyond kinetic operations, the Presidency highlighted a major breakthrough in the prosecution of suspected insurgents.
According to Dare, the legal system is now catching up with the military’s progress, ensuring that those captured face the full weight of the law.
“Just yesterday, 500 hardened terrorists were brought to the Federal High Court in Abuja to be prosecuted,” he disclosed. “So the mop-up is ongoing, the neutralization is ongoing.” Read_More…
