Seyed Abbas Araghchi has accused the United States and Israel of targeting one of Iran’s leading universities, describing the strike as an attack on the country’s scientific future.

In a statement posted on his official social media account, Araghchi said what he called the “MIT of Iran” had been bombed, adding that the latest strike followed earlier attacks on other universities across the country.

Although he did not name the institution directly, Iranian officials have recently referred to the Iran University of Science and Technology as the “MIT of Iran” because of its reputation in engineering and scientific research.

Iranian media said the university was among several educational institutions reportedly hit during recent air strikes.

Araghchi linked the attack to what he described as a wider effort to undermine Iran’s scientific progress. He invoked a saying attributed to the Prophet Muhammad that even if knowledge were located in the distant Pleiades, Iranians would still reach it.

“Israeli-US aggressors have bombed the MIT of Iran,” Araghchi wrote. “Aggressors will see our might.”

The Iranian foreign minister argued that attacks on universities, research centres and scientists would not stop the country’s development. He said previous strikes on nuclear facilities and the killing of Iranian scientists had failed to weaken Iran’s determination to continue pursuing knowledge and technological advancement.

Photographs shared alongside Araghchi’s message appeared to show severe damage to university buildings, with debris, shattered classrooms and books scattered across the site. One image showed an Iranian flag still standing beside a damaged structure. Read_More…
