According to the report from SYMFONI TV, The Governing Council of the University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT), led by Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of Council, Senator Mao Ohuabunwa, visited the Honourable Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, at his official residence in Life Camp, Abuja, on Monday, March 17, 2025.

During the visit, Senator Ohuabunwa extended the council’s congratulations to Wike on his well-deserved appointment and praised his exemplary performance as the FCT Minister. “We are here to express our profound admiration for your outstanding service and to celebrate your remarkable achievements,” Ohuabunwa said.

The Pro-Chancellor also recognized Wike’s deep connection to the university, noting that as an alumnus of UNIPORT, the Minister has continually showcased his capabilities and has represented the institution with distinction. “As an alumnus of the University of Port Harcourt, you have consistently demonstrated your capacity and have represented our institution with great distinction in all your endeavors. We are immensely proud of you,” Ohuabunwa stated.

Additionally, the Pro-Chancellor acknowledged Wike’s significant contributions to the university, particularly highlighting his role in the establishment of the Faculty of Law, the construction of the Faculty of Law building, and the development of a world-class Convocation Arena. These initiatives, Ohuabunwa emphasized, serve as lasting legacies of the Minister’s dedication to the institution.

In response, Wike expressed his appreciation for the recognition but made a point regarding the FCT land issue, saying, “All you have asked here. He can be assured that today, I’ll tell my wife and then you can come and pick up the money for that.
