According to a video from 05:47 posted on Channels TV on Monday July 13, 2026, security expert Dickson Osagie called for the creation of commando-style rescue teams stationed across Nigeria to respond quickly to kidnappings.

Speaking on Channels TV’s Newsroom series, Osagie pointed to the successful rescue of pupils and teachers in Okuama as an example of what proper coordination between security agencies can achieve.

He said the government should now build on this success by forming a dedicated, well-equipped rescue force capable of acting swiftly whenever a kidnapping occurs anywhere in the country.

In his words, Dickson Osagie said, “look at what went right here in Okuama state, what is expected for the Nigerian government to do is to draw some personnel from the military, the police, the DSS, the NIA, DIA all together and form a commando style rescue mission team or anti-terrorism rescue mission team.

“And have them based in every six geopolitical zone or perhaps in every state so that if there’s a call to the command control center that there is a crime in progress or kidnap action in progress, this rescue team can go all out and envelope this criminal element, to ensure that they cannot escape with these people,” he said.

Osagie said such a team should combine personnel from the military, police, the Department of State Services, and the country’s intelligence agencies, allowing for a faster and more coordinated response whenever an abduction is reported.

He said this structure would help ensure that criminal groups cannot escape with their victims after committing a crime.

He also reiterated his support for the administration’s decision to stop paying ransom, saying the two measures together would help reduce the incentive for kidnapping across the country and strengthen the protection of citizens nationwide….See More
