Ayodele Olawande, the Minister of Youth Development, has shared how he worked hard to become successful.
Speaking in an interview with Seun Okinbaloye on Mic On Podcast from 3:50 , Olawande revealed that he had to do various tough jobs to fund his education. He recalled working as an undertaker, carrying coffins and dancing with them during funeral processions. He said when he was a student, he used to walk long distances in Akure, from Okia Road to FUTA North Gate, to sieve gravel so he could earn money to pay his school fees.
Olawande further disclosed that he also cut grass by hand on plots of land to make money to support himself through school.
In Olawande’s words: “I have been an undertaker before, dancing with dead body everywhere on my shoulder. Anybody that knows Akure very well, I walked from Okia Road to Futa North gate to go and [sieve gravel] just to pay for my school fees. Back then, I could cut grass on two to four plots by hand in just one hour, just because I wanted to earn money”
