The Police Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi has stated that the officer who was captured in a viral video allegedly abusing the naira was not attached to the young men.
He made the clarification after an X user claimed that the policeman was performing his lawful duty before he was arrested for an offence.
Here is what the X user wrote;
“Before anybody has to be moving around with either police, army or DSS, they apply to these bodies, get permission and then they are assigned details. The police assigned that officer to the okoya boys. Now the poor officer doing the job HQ asked of him is the guilty one”.
Reacting to the statement, Muyiwa Adejobi stated that the policeman was supposed to be on duty at the Eleganza Company. He said he wasn’t supposed to be acting as an aide or escort to the young men.
The Police Public Relations Officer said a serious minded policeman is expected to discourage people from committing an offence which he failed to do.
Here is what Muyiwa Adejobi wrote;
“An act or omission could be criminal and punishable. The policeman has failed to act as an officer. He was never attached to the young men. He was to be on duty at the Eleganza company on guard duty, not as an aide or escort. So what was he doing with them where they made the shots? Is it his job to carry the money”.
