The President of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama has spoken about his Nigerian background.

This was contained in a post that was published on the official X handle of PREMIUM TIMES on Wednesday.

This is coming after he was sworn in as the President of Ghana. In the report that surfaced online, John Mahama stated that his stepmother is from Offa in Kwara state so he considers the place his hometown in Nigeria.

He said during the military coup in Ghana, his father lived in exile in Nigeria and he had to live with his stepmother for many years in Offa.

He said he was granted a chieftaincy title by the Oloffa of Offa. He said he is the Aare Atolase of Offa Kingdom.

The Ghana President was quoted as saying that;

“Let me clarify a few things about my Nigerian background. My stepmother is Nigerian, and she raised me. She comes from Offa in Kwara State”.

“When there was a coup in Ghana, my father lived in exile in Nigeria, and I had to live with my stepmother for many years in Offa. I know Offa quite well”.
