In an interview with Channels Television from 14.43, Dr. Austin Tam-George made a bold claim about former Rivers State governor Nyesom Wike’s development policies. According to a video that was shared by Channels Television, Tam-George, who was once a member of the Rivers State Executive Council, said Wike openly stated his intention to focus development projects in Obio-Akpor Local Government Area and Port Harcourt alone.

“I’m just telling you that is wrong,” Tam-George said, dismissing Wike’s claims that his projects were evenly spread across the state. He explained that during Wike’s time as governor, most of the state’s major projects were concentrated in these two areas.

As evidence, Tam-George pointed to the 12 flyovers constructed during Wike’s administration. Out of these, seven were located in Obio-Akpor. He argued that this shows clear favoritism towards the area.

When asked if Wike directly said he would prioritize these areas, Tam-George confidently responded, “Not only did he say so, but the facts also speak for themselves.”

Tam-George praised the current governor for taking a different approach. According to him, the new administration is working to spread development evenly across the state. For example, he mentioned significant projects now being implemented in the Kalabari area, a region that hasn’t always received much attention.

He concluded by highlighting that the new governor’s approach shows a commitment to inclusive development, unlike Wike’s focus on just a few areas.
