In a recent interview with The Nation, Solomon Bob, a prominent politician from Rivers State, shared valuable insights regarding Nyesom Wike, the former governor known for his influential role in Nigerian politics.
Bob first commended Wike for his extraordinary generosity, emphasizing how many political figures have achieved success thanks to the support Wike provided. His assistance in securing party tickets and gaining political backing has made him a pivotal figure for various politicians in the region.
However, Bob addressed the significant flaws he perceives in Wike’s leadership style. He pointed out that while Wike has been a benefactor to many, he grapples with maintaining relationships, particularly with his political adversaries.
Bob noted that Wike’s approach to conflict resolution leaves much to be desired, indicating that he struggles to manage rivalries effectively. This reflects a broader concern about Wike’s ability to navigate the often tumultuous waters of political rivalry.
His words,
“In politics, generally, there will only be a few persons. For some reasons. I don’t want to deprecate or insult anyone. But they follow their mind to do what they want to do. All of them, by exception, were all beneficiaries of Wike’s enormous generosity. This is because they would not have got their ticket without his assistance. I can assure you that some of them have broken so many rules. Wike is a man of extraordinary generosity. But, I’m telling you; he doesn’t know how to keep enemies. Maybe that’s his fault. Maybe that’s his fault in his character.”
