The former lawmaker representing Kaduna Central Senatorial District in the Upper Chamber of the National Assembly, the Senate, Senator Shehu Sani, has taken to X (formerly known as Twitter) to react to the arrest of a lawyer and staunch member of the Labour Party (LP), Dele Farotimi.

According to a post on the official X handle of Senator Shehu Sani, the former Kaduna lawmaker said the arrest of the human rights activist is worrying. Senator Shehu Sani insisted that the fundamental rights of Dele Farotimi must be respected.

 

Shehu Sani’s post is coming some minutes after a supporter of the Labour Party and human rights activist, Aisha Yesufu, also wrote on her X handle that the whereabouts of Dele Farotimi is unknown since he was arrested. She expressed disappointment with the conduct of the Nigerian Police Authority.

Senator Shehu Sani had written, “The report of the arrest of Dele Farotimi is worrying. His fundamental rights should be respected.”
