In a recent media briefing from 0:27, Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), expressed his dissatisfaction with Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed, accusing him of political treachery during his tenure as Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Governors’ Forum. The fiery remarks came during an address broadcast by Channels Television, where Wike recounted his frustrations with how the chairmanship was managed within the PDP.
Wike alleged that Bala Mohammed, along with other PDP leaders, defied the party’s longstanding tradition of alternating leadership roles between the North and South. “We have always done it North and South,” Wike remarked, highlighting that this unspoken agreement within the party was undermined. According to Wike, Bala Mohammed “connived” with others to secure the position for the North by moving the PDP Governors’ Forum chairmanship to Bauchi.
Wike voiced his conviction that this outcome would have been different if he were still serving as governor. “Of course, he knows if I was Governor, it wouldn’t happen,” he stated, suggesting that Bala Mohammed’s ambitions drove him to sideline principles for personal gain. He added, “To be a leader, you must have the ability to sacrifice, the ability to galvanize the people.”
