Senator Ireti Kingibe has disclosed that she grew up in a unique household, with a Muslim father, a Christian mother.
In a live coverage by Symfoni TV from 2:37, Kingibe said her Muslim father and Christian mother raised her with a strong sense of self-esteem. She explained that this strong foundation of self-esteem at home helped her push through challenges in the outside world, allowing her to complete her studies and establish herself as a civil engineer
In Kingibe’s words: “I come from a family of very liberal Muslim father and Christian mother and a family of mostly women. Later in life when we were all grown up my father then had sons. My father had a thing about women were the children to have. Anytime he sees a pregnant woman he will say may Allah give you a daughter. So I never felt less than any man growing up and I realized that the self-esteem that I was given at home, it goes a long way to helping when you get outside there. So I I studied and graduated as an engineer”.
