Sam Omatseye has stated that Bola Tinubu was not happy when Peter Obi defeated him in Lagos during the 2023 presidential election.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with Edmund Obilo on State Affairs program from 6:12, Omatseye explained that before the election, he asked Tinubu if he had identified any battleground states.
He said Tinubu responded that every state was a battleground and that he was not taking any state for granted. He said when Tinubu lost in Lagos, he was openly upset about it and made his feelings clear.
In Omatseye’s words: “At the beginning of the election I asked Tinubu whether he had mapped out any battleground, any areas that he had decided would be a battleground. He said every state is a battleground. So he was not one to take any state for granted. He did not take Lagos State for granted but some of his people might have done so. He was not happy about it (losing to Obi in Lagos) and he expressed it openly”
