Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, has spoken about his concerns regarding the activities of some non-governmental organisations (NGOs) in conflict zones.

In a video shared by Arise TV, General Musa stated that there have been cases where certain NGOs provide medical treatment to Nigerian troops and then also offer the same care to terrorists. He said the NGOs in question justify their actions by claiming that they are neutral.

General Musa said terrorists do not follow any human rights laws, allowing them to kill and destroy without any restrictions. He said in contrast, government forces are bound by laws and rules, which limit their actions in order to respect human rights.

In General Musa’s words: “I mentioned situations where you see a particular NGO will come and treat our own troops and then go across and treat terrorists, and then you wonder, ‘How are you treating those that are killing people’ and they say because of naturality. But the laws do not affect them, they do not obey those human rights so they kill at will, do every damage without anybody controlling them but you are being restricted because you are a government force”
