Nigerian politician and former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode has ignited controversy with a scathing critique of U.S. President Donald Trump following reports of a U.S.-led airstrike on Iranian nuclear facilities.
In a tweet posted on Sunday, Fani-Kayode accused Trump of abandoning his “America First” doctrine and instead pursuing an “Israel First” agenda. The vocal critic claimed that the US president’s actions have brought the world dangerously close to a third global conflict.
“You were never ‘America First’ but rather you are ‘Israel First’. You were never for ‘MAGA’ (Make America Great Again) but rather you were for ‘MIGA’ (Make Israel Great Again)!” Fani-Kayode wrote on X.
He condemned the bombing of Iran’s nuclear infrastructure, arguing that the decision has inflamed tensions in the Middle East and dragged the U.S. into a war that “was not theirs to fight.” The outspoken commentator described the move as unjust and accused Trump of serving the interests of what he called “an ethno-fascist, racist, genocidal, child-killing, ethnic-cleansing and mass murdering apartheid state.”
Fani-Kayode warned that Trump’s actions “opened the gates of hell,” and accused him of setting the Middle East ablaze to benefit “Zionists and fanatics” who he alleges control U.S. policy.
The tweet has since sparked both fierce support and strong condemnation online, with some praising Fani-Kayode for voicing a bold truth, while others criticized his rhetoric as inflammatory and divisive.
As global tensions continue to rise, particularly in the Middle East, Fani-Kayode’s remarks add to the growing chorus of voices warning of the escalating risk of a broader regional or even global conflict.
