Economist and spokesperson for the Dangote Group, Professor Ken Ife, has listed what he described as four monopolies controlling the Nigerian economy, warning that their resistance is aimed at keeping the country on its knees.
Speaking in an interview with TrustTV from 12:52, Prof. Ife identified the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC), the National Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG), billionaire industrialist Aliko Dangote, and the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN) as the key monopolies.
“The NNPC is the monopoly in the country. The second monopoly is NUPENG. The third monopoly is that man (Dangote). The fourth monopoly is this company we are talking about, PENGASSAN. They are the ones that can’t let go. They think the whole country will continue to be on its knees just for them to get by,” he declared.
The economist dismissed complaints from petroleum unions and industry players, arguing that their resources and influence were dwarfed by Dangote’s investments. “You have 2,000 trucks and you are making so much noise. So what happens? You are confronting somebody that brought 10,000 trucks. You have 2,000. He brought 10,000. You’re not talking about resources to upgrade your 2,000. He hasn’t stopped you from coming to the gantry. But you are screaming,” he added. See, More, Here>>>
