The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has reaffirmed his unwavering support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu during a recent interview aired on CHANNELS Television.
Responding to questions about his political loyalty, Wike boldly stated, “You don’t have to ask me about Asiwaju, aren’t you aware I’ll lead campaign in Rivers State?”
Wike, who served two terms as the Governor of Rivers State, made it clear that he remains a key political figure in the region and is ready to mobilize support for President Tinubu whenever necessary.
His statement comes amid continued scrutiny over his relationship with both the All Progressives Congress (APC) and his original party, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
Despite not officially defecting from the PDP, Wike has consistently worked alongside the APC-led federal government, particularly since his appointment as FCT Minister.
He emphasized that his commitment is to effective governance and the development of Nigeria, rather than rigid party lines.
His comments have sparked mixed reactions across political circles, with some praising his pragmatic approach to leadership, while others criticize what they see as political inconsistency.
Nonetheless, Wike remains unapologetic, asserting that his decisions are driven by a desire to serve the people and ensure progress in both Rivers State and the country at large.
