In an interview with TVC, Deputy Whip of the Senate, Senator Onyekachi Nwebonyi, voiced strong dissatisfaction with a TVC correspondent, criticizing her for failing to verify information before airing it. He expressed clear annoyance, stating that she had fallen short of the fundamental responsibilities of journalism by making unsubstantiated claims on live television.

The senator further emphasized that journalists have a duty to thoroughly investigate and monitor the progress of each senator’s projects, ensuring they are not merely documented on paper but genuinely implemented. According to him, this level of accountability is essential to responsible reporting and democratic oversight.

According to him, “You, as a journalist, are not even doing your job. What is your job? It is your duty—you have the budget, you have all the senatorial zones, you have all the federal constituencies. It is your duty as a TVC analyst to pick a project of one senator, go to his senatorial zone, and find out whether these projects are actually implemented or exist only on paper.
