According to the report from the Nigerian Tribune, the Aare Ona Kakanfo of Yorubaland, Gani Adams expressed his disappointment in President Bola Tinubu’s administration, asserting that it has not lived up to the expectations of those who believed in his “Renewed Hope” agenda.

In an open letter, Adams called for a reversal of the current trajectory, emphasizing that the president’s policies have only worsened the economic and security situations in Nigeria.

Despite sharing the same ethnic background, Adams felt it necessary to publicly express his concerns, stressing that remaining silent would be a disservice to the nation.

He argued that Nigerians had hoped for better governance from Tinubu, given his exposure to modern democratic practices, but have been let down by his performance.

According to Gani Adams, “Yoruba is quite different a tribe. When Obasanjo was there, we Yoruba criticised him. We are different from the Northerners who pampered their people when they are in power. This is because we always think about the future, that if you don’t act with justice, the power would shift from us to another tribe. That is the way we think in Yorubaland.

Even as I am talking about the Tinubu-led government, if anything wants to happen to him, when I know he is doing the right thing, I would defend him. When he went to the Supreme Court on the local government issue, we issued a statement and applauded him.”
