A Public Affair Analyst and Anti Corruption, Abba Kaka has alleged that during the previous visit of the former Kogi state Governor, Yahaya Bello to the commission, he question arrived with over 50 policemen and security personnel due to the presence of the Kogi State governor. He noted that had the EFCC attempted a forceful arrest at that time, it could have led to a violent confrontation, risking the safety of security officers involved.
He emphasized that the decision to avoid a potentially dangerous situation demonstrated the EFCC’s commitment to professionalism and safety. He pointed out that the current circumstances have shifted, particularly after the Supreme Court dismissed the case against the EFCC, which left him with fewer options.
He said in an interview with Arise TV from 5:47, ‘I actually commend the EFCC for being professional in this sense. The first time that he came to the commission, do you know that he came with over 50 policemen and other security officers because the governor was there? So, if they had forcefully arrested him, there would have been a shootout, and you know some of the security officers may even lose their lives. So, it was a professional call that they decided not to allow that to happen. But now that he has run out of options because the Supreme Court has thrown this case out, because assuming the Supreme Court had decided otherwise, we were going to go into anarchy.”
