The incident, described as an assassination attempt against the former US president, resulted in the death of one bystander and left two others critically injured.

According to Tribune, US President Joe Biden emphasized national unity in his statement, condemning the attack as “sick” and underscoring the need to reject such violence.

Vice-President Kamala Harris echoed these sentiments, labeling the shooting as “senseless” and emphasizing the imperative to prevent further violence.

Internationally, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen expressed deep shock, asserting that political violence has no place in a democracy.
