The President of Ijaw Youth Council Worldwide, Alaye Theophilus has alleged that the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike had claimed he’s focused on preserving his political structure in Rivers state in anticipation of the 2027 elections.
He stated that there is ambiguity surrounding his future ambitions and that it is uncertain whether he intends to run for the presidency or leverage this structure in support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. He argued that if Wike’s primary interest is facilitating President Tinubu’s reelection, there should be no inherent conflict since the President won in Rivers state in the last election.
He said in an interview with Channels TV from 11:53, ”Wike said he wants to maintain his political structure ahead of 2027. We don’t know if he wants to contest for President or if he wants to use the structure to work for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. The same Wike in the past election supported the President and he won in Rivers state.
So if Wike’s interest is about Mr. President returning, I don’t think there is an issue in that. The Rivers people are saying that the FCT Minister should leave the governor alone to govern the state. If not for the support given to the governor by the electorate, by now the 27 assembly members would have succeeded in impeaching the governor.”…..Sēe Morē
