Former Rivers State Governor and current FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, has lauded the leadership style of Senator Monday Obadan, the Governor of Edo State, describing him as a focused and strategic leader whose calm demeanor should not be mistaken for weakness.
Speaking during a high-profile event in Benin City, aired live on TVC News, Wike remarked: “People who keep quiet like this shouldn’t be underestimated; he knows what he wants to do.”
Wike’s comment came as part of a wider commendation of Governor Obadan’s early strides in office. He noted that despite facing post-election litigation all the way to the Supreme Court, the governor refused to be distracted from his core responsibility of governance.

Wike singled out the relaunch of the state-run transport system, the New Edo Line, as a major achievement. He highlighted the impact it has had on security and affordable transportation for residents, especially students and market traders.
Beyond the infrastructure, Wike also commended Obadan’s ability to earn the confidence of the people through action rather than rhetoric. “Performance is not theory. Performance is: go and see Edo Line, go and see this road, go and see this hospital,” he said.
Comparing Obadan’s understated style to his own more vocal approach, Wike encouraged the governor to continue at his pace, stressing that impact is more important than noise. “He appears too quiet but be careful. That quietness is strategic. He knows what he wants to do.”
