During a newspaper interview on African Independent Television (AIT) from 47:05, journalist Lammy Ughegbe criticized former presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar for prioritizing headlines over nation-building.

Ughegbe also made startling revelations about former Rivers State Governor and current FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, describing him as a “political colluder” who allegedly funds and controls both the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the People’s Democratic Party (PDP). According to Ughegbe, Wike’s influence extends to both parties, allowing him to manipulate political decisions. He expressed disappointment in Atiku for not recognizing Wike’s alleged machinations and instead seeking headlines.

Ughegbe’s comments followed a statement by Dan Nwanyanwu, the national chairman of the Zenith Labour Party, that Wike plans to contest the 2027 presidential election against President Bola Tinubu. Ughegbe suggested that Nwanyanwu’s revelation may be part of a larger political strategy.

Ughegbe described Wike as a political colossus who has significant influence over both parties, expressing his disappointment with leaders like Atiku for not focusing on nation-building and service. He emphasized that Wike, by funding the PDP, controls the party’s direction, indicating that Nwanyanwu’s disclosure might be a premature revelation of a strategic plan.

In his own words, he remarked, “Wike is a political colossus, He destroyed both parties. He’s there in APC, in control, He’s there in PDP funding the party. That’s why I’m disappointed with people like Atiku who will just come and do newspaper headline and all that and they’re not thinking Nation. They’re not thinking Service. So if Wike has been funding the Party, what else? He who plays the piper, calls the tune. So yes. He could be. It’s just that Dan Nwanyanwu has come out to reveal a game plan that is supposed to come out much later”……Seë _ Morë
