In a frank discussion on News Central TV from 4:36, Segun Showunmi, a prominent member of the Peoples Democratic Party, responded to various allegations against Governor Wike, stating that some of these accusations are unfounded.
He refuted the claim that Wike is meddling in the affairs of the National Working Committee (NWC), pointing out that its members are well-versed in the party’s rules and constitution.
Showunmi suggested that the reactions to these alleged actions may be overblown. He also voiced confusion regarding the accusation that Wike is hindering the Governors’ Forum from functioning cohesively, questioning the legitimacy of such assertions.
As Segun Showunmi put it, “I think he (Wike) is getting accused of too many things. Some of the things he is accused of, you will struggle to substantiate. For example, if you say he’s interfering with the NWC, that doesn’t make sense. Are they kids? Do they not know the party rules? Do they not know what the constitution is? So perhaps we are just overreacting. If you say he’s not allowing the Governors’ Forum to work in synergy, that’s a problem I don’t understand.”
