According to a report by DAILY POST on Thursday July 24, 2025, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Barrister Ezenwo Nyesom Wike, has called on the firm responsible for constructing the Abuja Division of the Court of Appeal complex to step up its work and ensure the project is finished before the September 2025 target.
Wike made this appeal during a site inspection on Wednesday at Dakibiyu in the Jabi District.
According to a statement issued by Rabi’a Musa Umar, the assistant director of press in the Minister’s office, the visit was part of Wike’s continued assessment of major infrastructure works within the capital.
Expressing dissatisfaction with the current pace of construction, the Minister emphasised the need for faster progress.
He assured the contractor that funding would not hinder timely delivery.
When asked by reporters whether meeting the deadline was still feasible, Wike admitted he had some concerns but remained cautiously hopeful, saying the contractor had reaffirmed the commitment to finish on schedule.
Addressing the contractor’s remarks about needing more financial support, Wike pushed back, pointing out that he had already pledged timely funding and that excuses would not be accepted.
He criticized the term “enough funds” as too vague and reminded the contractor of their agreement to hand over the completed project by September, reiterating that the administration would honour its payment commitments.
The Minister was joined on the visit by the Executive Secretary of the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA), Engr. Richard Yunana Dauda, and other senior officials.
