Elder statesman Bode George has stated that Nyesom Wike revoked the Certificate of Occupancy (C of O) of the PDP secretariat, raising concerns about his actions toward the party. He questioned why Wike, despite his influence, would take such a step against his own political platform.
George also addressed Wike’s claim that the PDP had not paid dues for 20 years, stating that he could have easily paid the ₦7.2 million himself rather than allowing the issue to become a public embarrassment. He emphasized that PDP remains a strong political force, unlike the APC, which he described as lacking a solid structure.
He said in an interview with Arise TV, “If he (Wike) pays 7.2 million, he’s the one that is there. He said in 20 years, the party has not paid. You mean he cannot afford 7.2 million naira to pay on behalf of the party from his own pocket? Even if I’m not a minister; if they ask me, I will pay for it, and then you go back and collect your money rather than disgracing your family outside. Is that acceptable? Let me tell you, there is no political party like PDP. We still have our structure.
The real political tree in this country is the PDP. Where in the APC? A congregation of strange bedfellows. Where are the members of their national executive? Where did he come from? Is he not from our party? Who is the national secretary of APC? Who is the national organizing secretary of APC? And then come down to the zones; they don’t have any structure.
