Hon. Igbini Odafe Emmanuel, a peace activist and close associate of both Nyesom Wike and Governor Siminalayi Fubara, has claimed that the ongoing political crisis in Rivers State was hijacked and worsened by external forces, during an interview with DAILY INDEPENDENT.

According to Emmanuel, the original disagreement between Wike and Fubara was a minor misunderstanding.

However, he insists that certain individuals took advantage of the situation to create deeper divisions.

He argues that these individuals have long opposed Wike’s decision to make Fubara his successor.

He also claims that some politicians who dislike Wike for supporting President Bola Tinubu’s election played a role in escalating the crisis.

He believes that their goal is to weaken Wike’s influence and disrupt political stability in Rivers State.

Emmanuel maintains that Wike and Fubara share a strong bond, despite the current crisis.

He insists that the crisis is not beyond resolution and that political settlement is still possible.

“The bond between both of them can’t be broken even by either or both of them. I know what I am talking about. It has not been easily for both of them since this minor misunderstanding was hijacked and escalated by those who swore never to allow Wike make Fubara their Governor and those who hate Wike for helping Tinubu become President,” he said.
