Dr. Sam Amadi, Director of the Abuja School of Social and Political Thought, has made a blunt assessment of the ongoing crisis within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), accusing key figures in the party, Nyesom Wike and Senator Samuel Anyanwu, of deliberately orchestrating its collapse to ensure President Bola Tinubu wins re-election in 2027.
Speaking during an interview on Arise News’ News Night on July 7, 2025, Amadi declared:
“Wike and Anyanwu are doing their best to make sure PDP collapses and Tinubu wins in 2027. They are not hiding it.”
Amadi’s comment underscores a growing belief that certain high-ranking PDP members are undermining the party from within while maintaining public party affiliation. According to him, this form of sabotage is not subtle, it’s strategic and intentional, designed to weaken the PDP’s ability to mount any meaningful opposition against the APC in the next general elections.
He added that reconciliation within the PDP is not likely in the short term because those driving the conflict have no intention of backing down before the next election.
“They’ve calculated that once Tinubu secures a second term, then maybe they can return to settle internal issues. But for now, the mission is clear: dismantle the PDP before 2027,” Amadi said.
He warned that the PDP is facing political extinction in regions like the Southeast, where founding figures and long-standing party leaders are now alienated. If the trend continues, he believes the party may become a shadow of itself, incapable of mounting a credible national campaign.
Amadi’s stark warning points to a deep internal rot and raises urgent questions about the party’s ability to survive its current leadership crisis — especially with actors he describes as actively aiding its downfall from within.
