Labour Party’s National Youth Leader, Kennedy Ahanotu, has reacted to the resignation of Nollywood actor and politician Kenneth Okonkwo from the party.  According to Ahanotu, Okonkwo’s exit will not affect the Labour Party because he was never a true member.

During an interview with Arise Television from 1.49, Ahanotu pointed out that Okonkwo addressed his resignation letter to all Nigerians instead of party leaders, which he believes shows that Okonkwo was not properly involved in the party structure. He also stated that Okonkwo did not even know his ward, local government, or state party leaders.

Another issue Ahanotu raised was that Okonkwo appeared confused about who the National Chairman of the Labour Party was. According to him, Julius Abure remains the leader of the party, as confirmed by party decisions and the court. He criticized Okonkwo for questioning this despite being a lawyer.

Ahanotu also mocked Okonkwo for setting his resignation date to February 25, comparing it to the storyline of the actor’s famous movie Living in Bondage. He said this action was strange and unusual in Nigerian politics.

Furthermore, Ahanotu accused Okonkwo of consistently speaking negatively about the Labour Party in recent times, making false claims about the leadership. Because of this, Ahanotu believes the party will not miss him. He even described Okonkwo as a “content creator” in politics rather than a serious politician.
