A report that was published on the official X account of VANGUARD on Monday, August 11, 2025, has captured the moment Akin Osuntokun, the former Director General of Peter Obi presidential campaign council, was explaining why former President, Olusegun Obasanjo withdrew his participation from the African Democratic Congress, ADC.
Osuntokun made the revelation after he was asked if the African Democratic Congress, ADC can defeat President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the upcoming presidential election in 2027.
According to the report that surfaced, Osuntokun said the ADC was formed from a political movement that was created by the former President in 2018. He said Obasanjo withdrew his participation to preserve his non-partisan statesmanship.
Akin Osuntokun, while speaking about the chances of the ADC in the 2027 election, said if the party can present the former governor of Anambra state, Peter Obi, the tenure of President Tinubu may be put to an end.
He said all the members of the opposition coalition must be united to win the election.
According to VANGUARD, Akin Osuntokun said that;
“At its transition from a pressure group to a political party, the former President withdrew his participation to preserve his non-partisan statesmanship”.
