Reverend Father Kelvin Ugwu, a well-known clergyman, took to Facebook on Wednesday, July 17, 2024, to address the controversial issue of selling spiritual products, declaring it a sin.

In his detailed post, Father Ugwu explained that the act of buying or selling something spiritual, or anything closely related to the spiritual, is known as simony.

“Simony is the sin of buying or selling something spiritual or closely related to the spiritual, or any contract of this kind that is forbidden by divine or ecclesiastical law,” he wrote.

Father Ugwu further elaborated on the origins of the term, which is rooted in a biblical story.
