President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Tuesday evening received Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke; his elder brother, Dr. Adedeji Adeleke; and Afrobeats singer, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, at his private residence in Ikoyi, Lagos.

The visit, which came ahead of the forthcoming Eid el-Kabir (Sallah) celebration, was revealed in a post by Governor Adeleke on his official X account (formerly known as Twitter) late Tuesday night.

“This evening, alongside the scion of the Adeleke dynasty, my elder brother, Dr. Deji Adeleke, and my nephew, whom we are immensely proud of, David Adeleke, popularly known as @davido, we paid a courtesy visit to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at his Lagos residence ahead of the Sallah celebration,” the governor stated.

Although the purpose of the meeting was not disclosed, it comes on the heels of Davido’s earlier visit to President Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja a few days prior.

According to Channels Television, the back-to-back engagements between the Adeleke family and the Nigerian president have stirred public interest, hinting at strengthening ties or consultations between both parties.

Photos from the visit showed the President in a relaxed setting with his visitors, suggesting a friendly atmosphere rather than a formal political meeting.

This marks another notable public interaction between the Presidency and prominent figures in Nigeria’s political and entertainment landscape.

The visit has attracted significant attention on social media, with many Nigerians sharing their thoughts on the Adeleke family’s continued proximity to the federal government.

Davido, one of Africa’s biggest music stars, has previously spoken about his respect for leaders irrespective of political affiliations, often emphasizing unity and peace.

His father, Dr. Deji Adeleke, is a respected businessman and philanthropist, while Governor Adeleke, a member of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has held the governorship of Osun State since 2022.

The closed-door meeting has fueled speculation on its political significance, especially as Nigeria approaches the 2027 general elections.

No official statement was released from the Presidency regarding the visit as of press time.
