Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike criticized Professor Chidi Odinkalu, questioning the credibility of his academic and legal background following Odinkalu’s social media comments on alleged corruption in the judiciary.
Wike expressed skepticism about Odinkalu’s credentials, rhetorically asking which university he is affiliated with, where he has taught law, or practiced as an advocate.Wike implied that Odinkalu’s expertise is primarily seen on social media, casting doubt on his professional standing in the field of law. This statement comes in response to Odinkalu’s criticisms, which reportedly exposed judicial issues that Wike dismissed as lacking substantiation.
He said in a live coverage by Symfoni from 0:01, “Somebody came to show me about one Write up where they said there was one professor that wrote… I asked him, ‘Professor of which university?’ Nobody knows, but he is a professor. They say he’s a professor of law. Where has he taught law? Nobody knows. Where has he advocated law? Nobody knows. But it’s only on social media that he’s a professor of law.”
